Bethany Whymark – 8.5

Nose: Buttery toffees and crème caramel. Steamed syrup sponge pudding, lemon zest, and a little sweet milky coffee. Freshly planed oak. Stewed plums and plump raisins.
Palate: Sherry-soaked raisins, and a hint of black tea. Sprinklings of citrus with a good grip of woody spice and dryness. Buttery texture.
Finish: Notes of bitter orange marmalade and woody astringency, with the faintest touch of juniper.
Comments: Really rather tasty. The rich woody, fruity and caramel notes would lend it very nicely to a Martinez.

Phoebe Calver – 8.6

Nose: A rich and warm caramel oat milk latte, with a thin-crust treacle tart, with chunks of date and a flick of orange rind.
Palate: A lot of dark dried fruits in a fruit cake, cherries, hints of cinnamon and nutmeg, with brandy cream making an appearance. It’s kind of giving me festive vibes here.
Finish: Lingering candied peel, with a little more spice and creaminess leading out.
Comments: This is a festive slice of heaven and has me craving a Hot Toddy.
