Bethany Whymark – 8.9
Nose: A creaminess like caramelised white chocolate, and buttery mashed potatoes. Pleasant grainy notes of oatcakes with cream cheese.
Palate: Very clean, velvety texture. It’s like a white chocolate and coffee cheesecake, with sweetness, creaminess, grain notes, and a dusting of baking spice.
Finish: Fades cleanly with a pleasing dryness and a little warmth around the mouth.
Comments: An excellent example of a varietal vodka, showing great character from the base ingredient. It would make a delightful Vodka Martini.
Phoebe Calver – 8.6
Nose: Very light to begin with, before nutty spice emerges and a whisper of creamy chocolate icing made using full-fat cream cheese and icing sugar.
Palate: More character here, with a toasted brioche note, sprinklings of cinnamon, nutmeg in an egg custard tart and a little stem ginger biscuit.
Finish: Short and with some lingering sweet spice.
Comments: Fresh and spicy, this is pretty enjoyable as it comes.
