Bethany Whymark – 8.4
Nose: Sweet notes of orange and lime wine gums alongside juniper, woody spice – cinnamon stick – and a little liquorice.
Palate: Rich notes of orange, from freshly squeezed, pulpy juice to orange-infused sponge cake, with woody pine and liquorice. Clove and a touch more of that cinnamon.
Finish: There’s a little peppery tingle as it fades with some sappy pine notes.
Comments: Very little to complain about with this London Dry – a fine match for Indian tonic water.
Phoebe Calver – 8.4
Nose: Bright and zingy, with sweet juniper and lovely lemon zest breaking through.
Palate: Not overly complicated – a hint of tree root, marmalade and spicy juniper running throughout.
Finish: Lingering zest, with more of that root note hanging around.
Comments: A lovely example of the style.
