Phoebe Calver – 8.2
Nose: A luscious lemon cheesecake with chunks of rind. Clotted cream on top and a vanilla shortbread biscuit. A fresh note of peppermint.
Palate: The lemon cheesecake becomes banoffee, with more caramel and a dark red berry compote with some nutmeg and ginger spice.
Finish: Lingering sweet spice and red berries, with that caramel appearing again.
Comments: A really sippable dram, with easy balance and complexity.
Christopher Coates – 7.5
Nose: Coconut ice, rice crispy cake (golden syrup, puffed rice tray bake), vanilla sponge, semolina, some hay, oat biscuit. Cloudy apple juice, too.
Palate: Medium-light. Apricot jam stirred through rice pudding, some custard, dried apple and pear pieces. Toffee apple, some milk chocolate.
Finish: Medium. On toffee apple and rice cake.
Comments: Reminds me of Sugar Puff cereal, with applesauce on the side. Very breakfast-y!
